Ranking Rules

For the Torredjon Tennis Club ranking, there are two types of rules:

General rules of the Ranking

1. To be registered in the Ranking it is necessary to be a member of the club and be 13 years old.

2. To enter the Ranking, you must request in writing, providing personal data, member number, and have a federation license. The Ranking delegate will incorporate the new player in the last group of the classification. Applicants who meet the following conditions may have direct access to higher groups if there are vacancies:

a) have a minimum official classification of group 8

b) have reached at least the semifinals in a recent absolute championship organized by the club. Players who are disputing the ranking, or who have been expelled from it, cannot take advantage of this rule.

It can also be accessed through CHALLENGE, consisting of challenging a player from the group in which you want to play. For this it is necessary to be a member of the club and to be in possession of the federation license. Only one challenge is allowed per phase. The regulations for this point are in the annex or "CHALLENGE" tab.

3. The Ranking classification is made up of groups of 8 players, named A, B, C,……… in descending order. The composition of the groups will be subject to the total number of players in the Ranking.

4. The date and time of the game must be set in person, or by phone, between players (never through third parties). The player who does not have a telephone is obliged to contact his rivals at least two days before the date of the match. If there is no agreement for the day of the match, the criteria of playing on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays will prevail. The order of play is left to the discretion of the players.

5. The court can be reserved for two hours per game, one day before the game date, with payment being the responsibility of the players. At the time of booking, the player must indicate his name, that of the rival, the group to which he belongs, and ask the employee for the game ticket corresponding to the match. The matches must be played at the “Joaquín Blume” or “El Juncal” facilities.

6. The matches will be played to the best of "three sets", with a "tie break" in all of them. The GOLDEN POINT RULE will be applied if one of the players requests it. It consists of: "upon reaching 40 equals, the receiver chooses a corner, the one who wins the point scores the game". This rule does not apply in the tie break. Matches cannot end in a draw. After the time of the match or before, the players decide how to break the tie, which may be by playing a game, a tie break, a point, etc. Once the phase is finished, the games scored with a tie will be considered as not played.

7. 3 points will be awarded to the match won, 1 to the match lost and 0 to the match considered WO. The player who plays all the matches in the phase will get a bonus of 3 points. If after the regulated time of two hours, the game has not finished, the final result will be the one that occurs at that moment. To determine the winner of the match, the following will be counted:

1) Number of sets won, in such a way that if two sets have been played and the second has not finished, the winner will be the one who won the first set, regardless of the result of the second set.

2) In the event of a set tie, the sum of all the games won in all the sets determines the winner, who will be the one who has won the most games.

It will be considered or may be won by WO, in situations such as:

a) The non-appearance of the opponent (a courtesy margin of 10 minutes will be given) at which time the assisting player must indicate this circumstance on the ticket, signing it and depositing it in the club's mailbox, or communicating it to the Ranking Delegate.

b) When a player contacts his opponent to set the date of the match, and he could not play for whatever reason, it must be the latter who returns the call to the former to set a new date for the match. If it were not so, the player who has contacted first, will be able to write down the match won by WO.

c) The matches not played in each phase.

d) When a result is scored without having played the game. In this case, WO will be given to both players.

8. The classification of each group is obtained by the number of points obtained, plus the bonus if applicable, the new groups being formed as follows:

-- The first one goes up two groups and the second and third go up one.

-- The fourth and fifth remain.

-- The sixth and seventh go down one group and the eighth two.

-- The last four players drop from group A (5, 6, 7 drop one group and 8 drop two)

-- From group B go up 1, 2, 3.

In the event of a tie on points at the end of the phase between two or more players, the following criteria will be followed to break the tie:

1º prevails the result between the players.

2nd the one who has played the most games.

3rd difference between sets won and lost of all the matches played (only those that have finished will be added as sets won). If one of the players obtains a worse difference, among those that remain, the result of the match between them will prevail.

4th difference between games won and lost.

5th if the tie persists, the ranking delegate will decide the classification by draw.

9. The player who does not play a minimum of 10 games during 3 consecutive phases of the Ranking will be removed from the Ranking. The exclusion will be for a minimum period of 6 months, and their reinstatement would be in the last group.

10. Players involved in falsifying results, or in anomalous use of the facilities, will be expelled from the Ranking, without prejudice to the disciplinary sanctions established by the Club's rules.

11. In case of injury or illness, the player must communicate it in writing, dated and signed (deposit it in the club's mailbox), or medical certificate, to be recorded in his group. Also, communicating it to the Ranking Delegate by telephone, or by any telematic means. The non-dispute of the matches will imply the relegation of the group. If a player is injured at the beginning of a phase, his permanence, promotion, or relegation from the group will depend on the results obtained up to that moment. Players who have not played their match with the injured player, or who are injured, will be awarded the 3 bonus points (if applicable) and the match will be counted as won. The players who would have played the game with the injured person, or injured, will record the result obtained.

12. In case of temporary absence (studies, work, etc.) the player must communicate it in writing, or by calling the Ranking Delegate, or by any telematic means. To rejoin the group you were in, you must request it in writing, or by other means. To apply this rule, the period of absence must be greater than 6 months. This rule will not apply when a phase has started.

13. The results and classifications will be displayed within the first two days after the end of the phase (Monday and Tuesday) and will be displayed until the fourth day (Thursday). The fifth day (Friday) will be for the challenge draw, if any, and the sixth and seventh (Saturday and Sunday) for the challenge match. If the game could not be played on those days, it would be played within the next 3 days at most. If there is no agreement on the day of the match, or if it is not played for any other reason, within the established time, the Ranking Delegate will decide the result of the match.

All claims must be in writing and signed by the interested party. Also, informing the Ranking Delegate, who on behalf of the interested party, will transmit said claim to the other player. Once the term has expired, and the new groups have been made public, no claim will be dealt with.

14. The Torrejón de Ardoz Tennis Club is not responsible for injuries or accidents that may occur to players.

15. These rules may be expanded or modified by the Board of Directors when it deems appropriate, with the only requirement to make it public through the Club's bulletin board.

Challenge Rules

Players who join the Ranking may do so from a group other than the last one. Two ways:

1º Being at least a semifinalist in a tournament organized by CT Torrejón. The player will enter the highest group that is vacant. If there are no vacancies, or those that do exist, are considered not appropriate to your level, you may choose to wait without playing, until one occurs in a group that you consider to be of your level, and join it.

2º Challenging a player from the group in which he wants to play (the player he must face will be done by lot). If he wins the match, he will take the place of the challenged, and he will go down to the lower group. This will imply having to drop a player in all the lower groups, that is, only two players from each group could go up.

If you lose the game, the entry would be from the last group. If you decide not to join said group, you will not be able to challenge again until a minimum of 6 months have elapsed.

The challenge match will be played between the end of one game phase and the start of the next. The players of the group where the challenge takes place may, if they wish, attend the draw. The Club will contact the players to inform them of the challenge and who should play it.

The challenge match will be played on a court reserved by the Club, and refereed by the Ranking delegate.

The player who by draw must play the match will be exempt from the draw for the next phase if there is a challenge and it goes to this player's group. Non-participation in the draw will only be for one phase.

When a player voluntarily leaves the Ranking, he will not be able to join it again through this system, until at least one year has elapsed.
